Are The Events Described In Revelation
Written In Chronological Order?
A: Yes, I believe they are. Here's how I think Revelation is divided:
- Chapters 1-3 are the Church Age or The Age Of Grace and describes the
different types of Christians that live in it. (This is the age in which we now
live)
- Chapters 4-5 describes the scene in heaven after the Rapture (The Rapture is
the removal of the Church from the earth into the presence of the Lord. This
takes place between chapters 3 and 4. The Church isn't mentioned from this point
on)
- Chapters 6-18 describes the seven-year Tribulation which follows the Rapture.
Notice that chapters 6-18 is thirteen chapters. The first six (Chapters 6-11)
are the first three-and-a-half years. And the last six (Chapters 13-18) speak of
the last three-and-a-half years or the time known as the Great Tribulation. That
leaves one chapter in the middle -- chapter 12. Chapter 12 seems to be a summary
of the war between God and Satan and then sets the stage for the Great
Tribulation. Compare Revelation 13 to Matthew 24:1-26
- Chapters 19-22 describe the return of Christ, the 1000 Year Reign, White
Throne judgment and the new heaven and new earth.
