Doesn’t Genesis 1 & 2 Contradict Each Other?

A:  No.  Genesis 1 is a detailed account of the Creation Week.  Genesis 2 focuses on the sixth day when man was created.  

Originally Genesis was written on stone or clay tablets so if a new tablet was started it would be necessary to begin with a summary. Verses 1-6 of Genesis 2 offer a summary of Creation Week. Then, starting at verse 7, we’re told in detail how God created man and how he was to live.
